Poll shows majority want TSA scrapped for P3
A group of parents concerned about the controversial Territory-wide System Assessment (TSA), says online polling shows there is overwhelming support for the idea of scrapping the tests for primary three students. It said more than 70 percent of the 3,850 respondents to the online poll want it to be cancelled immediately. More than 90 percent of respondents also thought that children are missing out on rest and leisure because of the TSA. The group’s convenor, Doreen Ho – a mother of three – said education authorities have never clearly explained why the TSA is necessary. "They are not focusing (on) the root cause of the P3 TSA problem," she said. "Instead of looking into the core problem, they just run away from their own responsibility." "This is completely ridiculous because this is a policy issue – but the [Education Bureau] takes it just as a local school management issue. And we think this is unacceptable," she added. Earlier this month, the Education Bureau said schools would be given warning letters if they forced students to study for the TSA, and Education Secretary Eddie Ng warned schools not to flout the guideline.
